Is there a free pet poison hotline?

The two big US poison lines, ASPCA Animal Poison Control and Pet Poison Helpline, may charge a consultation fee. Many pet insurers and some memberships include a free 24/7 vet advice line instead: search yours above. In Australia, call the Animal Poisons Helpline on 1300 869 738, open 24/7.

Is ASPCA Animal Poison Control free?

A consultation fee may apply. Call (888) 426-4435 if you are in the US or Canada. ASPCA Pet Health Insurance is a separate company, and we found no free vet line on its official pages.

Does pet insurance include a free vet line?

Often, yes. Nationwide, Embrace, Figo, Pets Best, Healthy Paws, MetLife, AKC Pet Insurance and Spot list one in the US; Petplan, ManyPets and Animal Friends in the UK; Bow Wow Meow and Everyday in Australia. Check your policy app to start.

Does Walmart+ include a free vet line?

Yes. Walmart+ includes a free Pawp membership with 24/7 vet chat and video. Turn it on in your Walmart+ benefits, then use the Pawp app.

Can a free vet line replace poison control?

No. A vet advice line can help you decide what to do next, but it isn't poison control and can't treat your dog. If your dog ate something toxic, call your vet or an emergency vet now.

My insurer isn't listed. What now?

Check your policy documents or member app: programs change, and some include a vet line we couldn't confirm. In an emergency, don't wait: call your vet or the nearest emergency vet.

Do Chewy or Costco have a free vet line?

Chewy offers a free chat with a licensed vet tech during set hours, not 24/7. Costco Executive Members get a free AI pet-health chat plus one free chat with a vet.
